THE ISSUE

The needs of every community are greater than the philanthropic and charitable dollars available to solve them. Grantmaking foundations, government contracts, fees for services and grassroots fundraising all contribute to the revenue streams of the non-profit sector, but it never seems to be enough. Communities are responsible for taking care of their own so that all families can reach their full potential and thrive.

The Inspiration

Many individuals and businesses want to give back to their community but aren’t sure how. Moreover, they’re interested in making sure that even a small donation is being used for maximum impact. These goals can be achieved through a community’s commitment to pooling resources for the greater good that will lead to investments in life-changing non-profit programs.

A group of community-minded volunteers formed in 2009 when they saw the need to create a local community foundation that offers individuals, businesses and families a professional and efficient way to match philanthropic efforts with the needs of the New Braunfels area. The McKenna Foundation shared in their inspiration to provide leadership to community-based philanthropy through seed funding for the organization’s operations as well as funds to begin endowments for local non-profit organizations and community causes.

McKenna actively provides services to enhance the health and well-being of the greater New Braunfels community, serving as a partner and resource to others who share our goals — now and for future generations.
