Do you have your “Ducks in a Row?” Have you considered your legacy planning and what would happen if you were no longer able to make your own financial or health care decisions? Join Hope Hospice to learn more about what is needed for you to be legally prepared. You’ll hear which forms allow you to express your wishes and how they can provide your family with the peace of mind of how you chose to be honored.
CASA CenTex Young Professionals
The CASA CenTex Young Professionals is a volunteer group for adults ages 21 to 40 dedicated to raising awareness, fundraising, and supporting CASA of Central Texas. Serving Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe, and Hays counties, the group provides charitable and social opportunities for members looking to impact the lives of abused or neglected children.
Central Texas Foster Care Simulation
CASA of Central Texas, Gruene United Methodist Church, and SJRC Texas I Belong invite you to join them for a realistic, interactive experience of a “month” in foster care. Join us for this unique FREE event where you will play the role of a child in foster care, a biological parent, a foster parent, a CASA volunteer, or a caseworker and experience a simulation of what 4 weeks in Foster Care can entail. Questions? Please contact Jade Dimitri at jdimitri@casacentex.org
Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate Volunteer
Through trained and staff-supported Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers, we advocate for the best interest of children who have experienced abuse and neglect in Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe, and Hays.
CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to help ensure that every child in foster care is moved or returned to a safe, stable, permanent home as quickly as possible. CASA volunteers research case records and interview each person involved in a child’s life, including family members, teachers, doctors, lawyers, and social workers. They monitor the progress of the child and family and advocate for the child’s current and future needs in court, in school, and in agency meetings. CASA volunteers are required to meet with the children monthly. CASA’s independent evaluations allow the court to make better informed decisions.
Because CASA volunteers serve on one case and commit at least 12 months of their time, they truly get to know an individual child or sibling group. They provide sustained, personal attention to every child – just as every child deserves.
